SCHOOL DINNER MONEY

At Redhills School we employ our own staff and run our own kitchen. We offer freshly cooked meals made on site daily. On Wednesdays there is a Roast Dinner (and a vegetarian alternative). On every other day we offer three choices, red, blue or green. Green is always the Vegetarian option and the kitchen can also cater for gluten-free and other dietary requirements with notice. Menus are sent home termly and children can choose whether they are having a school dinner or a packed lunch on a daily basis.

Under the Government Universal Infant Free School Meals Scheme, children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 are entitled to a hot meal free of charge. Children in Years 3-6 are required to pay for meals unless parents are in receipt of a means tested benefit and have registered for free school meals. A 'meal' is a main meal with vegetables, a desert and a drink.

School meals cost £10.00 per week or £2.00 per day

You can now pay on our Parent Pay System or you can send money in with your child in a named envelope on a Monday containing enough money for the whole week.

If you pay for school dinners and are paid monthly yourself, then at the beginning of the month you may wish to pay for the whole month’s meals. If you are paid or receive benefits weekly, you may prefer to pay weekly. Either way, the office will accept payments on a Monday each week.

If your child is absent and you have already paid for meals, the money simply ‘rolls over’ as a credit balance to the following week. We do not give change or refund the balance unless your child leaves the school or your circumstances alter. If you know that your child will only have school dinners on a couple of days, then send in as much money as you need (see calculator below). If you have not paid at the beginning of the week as requested, and you do not have any ‘credit’ then we will contact you asking you to make an immediate payment. Hopefully, as we are asking parents to pay up front, this should only happen very occasionally and your help in this would be greatly appreciated.

It is much easier for us if you pay CASH, but if you have to write a cheque this should be made payable to ACE. Payment by either method can be handed to the class teacher or directly to the office. You may prefer to give it straight to the office if it is a large sum of cash. Wherever you hand the money in, it MUST be in a named envelope.

School meals system summary:

You do not need to provide exact change, as any balance over
