Daisi Project

A group of children in Years 4,5 and 6 at Redhills have contributed to Exeter’s festival of writing for and by young people: exetreme imagination, through a creative writing and visual arts project and exhibition called Upon My Word.Based on Michael Morpurgo’s An Elephant in the Garden, they have created a giant elephant sculpture, a representation of the story's character Marlene, which is now on display in the entrance to the school.  An adaptation of the story is being performed at Exeter Northcott Theatre, and so our elephant will be moved to join the Upon My Word exhibition at the Northcott during the week of the theatre production before and during October half term. It will then return for a more permanent home at school. The children have had a great couple of days - as the photos testify - and have produced some thoughtful responses to the characters in the book.
